2010년, 경인년 새해를 맞아 클리블랜드 한인 동포 여러분께 인사를 드립니다. |
 |
지금 한인사회는 미국이라는 다문화권 사회 속에서 변화와 개혁에 직면해 있습니다.
변화하지 않고 개혁하지 않으면 도퇴될 수 밖에 없는 시대적 상황 속에서 우리는
내일을 짊어질 1.5세, 2세들이 한인 사회를 자랑스럽게 여기고 1세들이 이루어
놓은 위업을 이어 나갈 수 있도록 새로운 내일을 준비하고 도약해 나가야 할
것입니다. |

이제 클리블랜드 한인회는 한인 사회와 미주 사회의 가교 역할을 담당할 1.5세와
2세들이 한인회 활동에 역동적으로 참여할 수 있도록 보다 많은 기회를 넓혀
주어야 하고, 오랜 이민 생활로 지치고 타민족으로서 살아가는 한인 동포들에게
실질적인 힘이 되고 든든한 울타리가 되어서 변화속에 신뢰받는 한인회가 되도록
최선을 다할 것을 약속 드립니다.

As KAAGC Chairman of the Board of Trustees,
it is my distinct honor to send you a warm
greeting of 2010. The KAAGC was founded in
1966 to promote friendship among Korean
Americans living in the Greater Cleveland
area and to advance awareness of Korean
culture, for the good of both Koreans and
Americans alike. |

As Koreans have continued to succeed in
making their mark in the United States, our
mission has only become more relevant. When
I arrived in Cleveland over 30 years ago, I
could have never dreamed that Korean
immigrants could have achieved so much in
such a short span of time. In a single
generation we have succeeded in contributing
to America in some of the country’s top
professions, not to mention the fact that
you can now regularly see Korean faces in
Hollywood movies and on the fields of
professional sports, including Mr. Choo in
the Cleveland Indians baseball team. We
certainly have come a long way, however
there is still important work to be done. In
these tough economic times it is vital that
we continue to keep KAAGC financially
healthy, so it can in turn provide much
needed support for our members in need.
KAAGC also provides an important political
voice for the Korean-American community of
Greater Cleveland, and as we continue to
take a larger role in American society, I
believe we must ensure our political voice
is heard. For these reasons KAAGC deserves
our utmost support.
My hope for the future is that the Korean
Americans of Cleveland will continue to
thrive through cooperation in organizations
such as KAAGC, and that we as a community
take our rightful place as an important
member of the Greater Cleveland area.
